Multicultural festival “Gogolfest” will take place from the 4th till the 12th of September in Kiev. The festival will be opened by mutual performance “Multiverse” of the Spanish Theatre “La Fura dels Baus” (Barcelona, Spain) and “DAH” Theatre.

From August 28 work of American research group “Ghost Hunters International” starts in Podgoretskiy Сastle in Lvov region. Members of the team will research paranormal phenomena on the territory of the Castle Complex, which were registered now, though have been known from translations from old times.

In village Obolonye, Koropskiy district of Chernigov region bones and tusk of a mammoth of Paleolith era were found at a depth of 1, 5 meters while digging a hole for drilling a chink on the territory of the stokehole of a local school.

The autumn cinema season in Ukraine will be opened by festivals of short films. Ukrainian spectators are also going to see festivals of British, German, Latin American, Italian and Asian films in the nearest time.

New program of British media art will be demonstrated during the week of actual art in Lvov on August 27-29. These will be audio visual works of British artists, created with support of modern media technologies – Internet, video, computer graphics, animation and multimedia. The demonstrations will be conducted with commentaries of the art critic and media projects manager of the Center of City History Bogdan Shumilovich

Exhibition of leather goods, made by folk master Lubov Makoviychuk-Gumen, “Pokutskaya Tobivka” will be opened on August 19.

Russian scientist got interested in the unique icon with double image that is kept in Chernigov. Scientific secretary of the National Architectural-Historic Reserve “Ancient Chernigov” Sergey Chernyakov reported about it. According to him, the unique in techniques of creation icon is represented in the exposition of national icon of the reserve.

On August 13 the center of the capital was supplemented with new art objects. 20 benches, painted by young artists, were settled at the crossroads of Pushkinskaya and Proreznaya streets. Mounting of the benches became the final stage of the action, run by the Center of Subculture Initiatives “Urban X” with support of international fund “Renaissance” and Kiev City State Administration in spring of this year.

Exhibition “Dinosaurs World” will take place on Pevcheskoye Pole in September of this year. Over 50 prehistoric animals from 2 to 23 meters high will be represented. The exposition will be brought to Kiev from Austria.

The monument to the founders of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is planned to be set near the sacred source of Antoniy and Feodosiy.

A complex, created by William Geste, with parking and entertainment center will be built on Podol.

A house from the complex of constructions, excavated in Kiev Podol by archeologist and historian Konstantin Gupalo at the beginning of 1970th, was reproduced in the History and Culture center “Kievan Rus Park”

A fragment of sandstone with tracery in the form of concentric circles was found in deserted stone quarry not far from Cambridge, Great Britain. Archeologist from the University of Cambridge Christopher Evans suggested that this was the oldest extant pattern of scribbles which had been made by the Stone Age human just for the fun of it.

The exhibition of the best media photos of the world “World press photo” will be held in the municipal gallery “Lavra” from 5th to 26th of August. About 200 photos of 62 laureates from 22 countries of the world will be shown in the exposition.

In the action “7 wonders of Ukraine: castles, fortresses, palaces” Kiev is represented by Mariinskiy Palace, Klovskiy Palace and the most vigorous fortification construction in Kiev – Kiev Fortress.
