A legendary exhibition of works of artists, belonging to the legendary Paris art school is being held in Kharkov. Uncommonness of this exhibition is its “open-air” format. A cosy part of Montparnasse Boulevard with corresponding entourage will be created in the center of Kharkov. Visitors of the exhibition will be able to immerse into the romantic atmosphere of Paris of 20-30h years of the last century.

The history of cultural phenomenon called “Paris School” goes back to 1920th. That`s exactly when Paris was called the capital o world art innovations. Young artists from all over the world gathered there seeking freedom and creative realization which they couldn’t find on their homeland. Among them there were many Jews seeking in cosmopolitan Paris better destiny and favorable conditions for creative work. That’s how the legend of the 20th century “The Paris school” was created.

Montparnasse area became the center of Parisian international bohemia life. Today the list of emigrant artists who lived in Montparnasse in the period between the two wars reminds the top-list of leaders of the last century art. According to the participant of this Paris epic Mark Chagall, people either died there or became famous. Among those who reached success were Chagall himself, Modigliani, Sutin, Picasso and Kisling, whose works are represented in the exhibition organized by the international charity fund “Aleksandr Feldman’s Fund” and “AVEK” Gallery in Kharkov.

The exposition includes over 100 pictorial, graphical and sculptural works of Paris School representatives from Aleksandr Feldman`s personal collection. Amedeo Modigliani will be represented by the sculpture “A woman’s head” (a similar work was sold for 52 mln. dollars before), Haim Soutine – by canvas “The Southern scenery”), Mark Chagall – by the picture “The praying Jew”, Mois Kisling – by his work “A woman’s portrait” and Pablo Picasso – by author lithographies “Atelier Californiy” and “Small corrida”.

Along with the superstars, visitors will have a chance to see the works of Michelle Kikoin, Pinkhus Cremin, Anna Orlova, Mane-Katz, Issachar Rybak, Alexander Frenel, Sonia Delaunau, Alexander Altmann, Adolphe Feder, Isaac Paylese, Arthur Kolnik and other representatives of Paris school. Most of them were Ukrainians by origin.
