The monument to the founders of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is planned to be set near the sacred source of Antoniy and Feodosiy.
The monument is fully made of bronze; its weight is 5100 kilos. There were certain disagreements about the place of installation. Initially it was planned to place the figures by the distant caves. But it turned out impossible, since there was communications network underground and concrete poling had to be driven to install the monument. Now they decide on the location in the reserve.
“Most likely, it will be the ground by the sacred source of Antoniy and Feodosiy in the “low” Lavra” – one of the authors of the construction Oleg Pinchuk said. It is also informed that team of capital sculptures worked at the monument to the founder of the monastery for several months.
Bronze figures are styled as Old Russian sculpture with keeping of church canons – they are a little elongated, with hands placed in the position typical for images on icons and print on the scrolls is Old Russian. The date of the installation of the monument is still being determined.
According to “Newspaper of Kiev”, the treasurer of Kiev Pechersk Lavra archimandrite Varsonofiy said that the opening of the monument would probably take place in September.
