Two
twin-football players – talismans of Championship in football that will be held
on fields of Ukraine and Poland, have been presented in Warsaw. The Polish
football player wears white t-shirt and red shorts and Ukrainian player –
yellow t-shirt and blue shorts. Hairstyles of the both twins are also done in
national colors.
Ceremony of
introduction of the symbols of EURO 2012 took place at the Polish National
Theatre with participation of the Executive Director of UEFA Events SA David
Tailor and Director of the Tournament Martin Kallen.
Designing
of the talismans of the Continental Championship was carried out by the
world-known company Warner Bros, which also participated in creation of symbols
of the two preceding championships.
“Trixi and
Flix of 2008 and the talisman of Euro 2004 are also works of Warner Bros, who
also created Bugsy rabbit. In my opinion, our talisman is in a way similar to
the preceding ones. They are also Superheroes”- Juliusz Gluski, the speaker of
International Olympic Committee “EURO 2012 Poland” said.
According
to him, UEFA took into account wishes of Ukrainian and Poland sides as to view
of the symbols of EURO 2012. “Polish culture and traditions are like Ukrainian
ones to a certain extent, but creating of a talisman that would correspond to
both cultures is rather complicated task. However, I believe we succeeded in
that” – Gluski added.
On March 16, new real identity rules imposed on China’s microblogging platform Weibo go into effect; dubbed “Weibocalypse” by China’s internet community . A unique musical illuminated floating fountain opened in the Western Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia on September 4, 2011. The fountain is the world’s only floating fountain mounted in the natural body of water and by its technical parameters can only be compared to one such water facility in the world – the Dubai Fountain.
Ukrainian Olha Saladuha became gold medalist in the 13th World Championships in Athletics, held in Daegu, South Korea. Saladuha won the finals in the triple jump competition among females and became the world champion.

A Polish artist Jaroslaw Koziara created two giant images of fish on the grass on each side of the Polish-Ukrainian border. The tail of the first image lies on the territory of Poland with its head on the Ukrainian territory. The second fish is positioned facing the opposite direction. The artist intends to send the message of unity of the two countries – nature and art know no borders.
