The original American performance will be shown in Kiev

The famous "Pilobolus" choreographic company (USA) known as the theater of shadows will arrive to Ukraine for the first time. One of their most prominent programs called “Shadowland” will be enjoyed by Ukrainian public.

The program is created as a synthesis of shadow play (the play of light and shadow), dance, circus and the show. The “Shadowland” program is a result of several years of experimentation with a shadow. Some multiple moving screens of various sizes and shapes are used in order to show the transformation of images on the screen and the choreography in front of screens.

The plot of "Shadowland" is based on surrealistic associations ov maturing young girl. The show is created in cooperation with the popular author of the cartoon about «Sponge Bob Square Pants» Steven Banks. And the show is the universal chamber performance combining drama and comedy. The result of that combination was a mixture of special "Pilobolus" dancing style consisting of a nonstandard approach to modern dance, strong energy, fast pace and multimedia technologies

Music for the performance was written by the popular American musician and producer David Poe. And music was composed in various genres - from ballads to rock.

Some fact about the “Pilobolus” choreographic company: "Pilobolus" was founded in 1971 as a group of young, untrained dancers. They became popular quickly throughout the world thanks to the creative reconciliation of their rich imagination and unique athletic build. Some 40 years later the theater was developed into a new branch of American art of the XXI century. "Pilobolus" dancing fantasy has become the classics of American Ballet. And the principle of their choreography is their sculpture-like, acrobatic, theatrical and original style. The dancers compose their dance group "structure" together combining the dance with such art factors as the genre of theater of shadows, the Japanese theatrical art called dzentay, facial expressions and gymnastics. Much humor and irony is added into the mood of show too. The audience is always shocked with their light, ironic style balancing on the border of dance and acrobatics as well as with their stunning visual effects.
