A house from the complex of constructions, excavated in Kiev Podol by archeologist and historian Konstantin Gupalo at the beginning of 1970th, was reproduced in the History and Culture center “Kievan Rus Park”

A fragment of sandstone with tracery in the form of concentric circles was found in deserted stone quarry not far from Cambridge, Great Britain. Archeologist from the University of Cambridge Christopher Evans suggested that this was the oldest extant pattern of scribbles which had been made by the Stone Age human just for the fun of it.

A new place of interest – Torture Museum, located in Zbarazhskiy Castle, has appeared in Ukraine. The exposition is placed in the arched underground space that is typical for such exhibitions.

The Minister of environmental protection of Ukraine Nikolai Zlochevskiy has signed the Order “About summarizing the results of the all-Ukrainian contest “The National tree of Ukraine” The contest was held in four nominations. The 2000-year-old olive tree from the Nikitskiy Botanical Garden was acknowledged the oldest tree in Ukraine.
 

The brick remains of the once famous Gerburts` Castle near Dobrmil town of Starosamborskiy district of Lvov region, will be put on the list of the nine castles, forming the national historical-architectural reserve “Galitskaya Crown”

The second tour of “Mazepa-fest” will take place on Singers` field in Poltava. The festival`s organizer Nikolay Kulchinskiy informed about it at a press-conference in Kiev. “All financial problems with Poltava Authorities and musicians have been solved”, he said.

Monument to Yuriy Detochkin has been set up on one of Donetsk central streets.
The main character of the famous film was immortalized in bronze by famous sculpture Yuriy Makagon. As soon as white cover was removed from the monument, crowds of people, wishing to take pictures, surrounded it.

A great festival of electronic and industrial music “Energy Open air 2010” will be held from 16th till 19th of July. The festival of national production movies “Open night. Take 14” will be held within the program of the ethnic festival “Dream Country” on July 10-11 in Kiev. It has been announced by the organizers of the festival.

The flower clock in the center of Kiev is going to be modified in two weeks. Now it is styled as The Victory Order, but soon it will obtain national features: the clock dial will be styled as a flag, surrounded by arrow-wood, national towel and cones.
