“Koleso”(which means “the wheel”) rolled down the Andriyivskyi Uzviz on May, 28, 1988. The troupe headed by an ideological leader Iryna Klischevska received an own apartment on the Andriyivskyi uzviz, 8, and since that day it is an unchanging "habitant" of “the most Kyiv street". And when the guests of our city search theatres on Andriyivskyi, they come exactly to "Koleso".

In XIX century in this house lived Podolsk jeweller, in ХХ century there were communal apartments. Both fitters and actors helped a theatre reincarnation from unattractive, "tortured" by the communal soviet way of life building. Today "Koleso" theatre is inalienable part of cultural life of Kyiv. It is situated side by side with the museum of Bulgakov, which is the most famous building on the street. Also well-known "Richard Castle" and charming "Museum of the one street" is quite near. And from the windows of the theatre you can see Andriyivska church soaring over the top of the hill.

“Koleso” has two stage grounds. Basic stage is located on the first floor of the theatre and seats 70 spectators. The closed space can surprise those, who came to the theatre for the first time: actors are at the 2 meters distance, and an audience become the witnesses of the most secret processes, going on the stage. The second stage of "Koleso” appears to be … a cafe. On the ground floor spectators in a friendly atmosphere become the participants of a play ("Passion of mister G.-P. house" by О. Pchilka, “To love, to burn and to be the same as before." by J. Béranger.

 The troupe of the theatre consists of 16 professional actors, and 6 actors working on invitation. Among them there are those, who work in "Koleso" almost from the very first days of its existence: Valentyna Boiko, Galyna Zrazhevska, Oleg Lepenets, Olexander Biryukov and Vadym Lyalko. And, certainly, an artistic leader at the head of the troupe is honoured artist of Ukraine Iryna Klischevska.

 The repertoire of the theatre consists of 26 plays. Ukrainian classic dramaturgy is presented by "Shantrapa" by P.Saksaganskyi, which received a "Grand Prix" on the International theatrical festival "The Slavic meets”, original theatrically-folklore play "Vechornytsi", mentioned above vaudeville-modern “Passion of mister G.-P. house" and other.

 The foreign classics are presented by the play “Lady-ghost” based on the play of the outstanding Spanish dramatist P. Calderon. Stage-director-producer Iryna Klischevska first in Ukraine created the chamber variant of this comedy of cloak and sword. A composer М. Chimberzhi got the "Kyiv pectoral-96" for music backing for this play. In 2006 Iryna Klischevska realized the performance of a classic play of I. Turgenyev "Month in the country".

 One of the most interesting interpretations of the foreign classics on the Ukrainian chamber stage is a play "Emma" by I.Stelmakh based on a novel by Flaubert "Madam Bovary". This play got "Kyiv pectoral-2000" for "The best chamber stage play" and for "Music for the play" (stage-director honoured artist of Ukraine Iryna Klischevska, composer people’s artist of Ukraine Mikhail Chimberzhi).

 Modern dramaturgy is one of the biggest parts of “Koleso” repertoire. For example, “Azalea" by I. Zhamiak, and eccentric comedy "Case in "Hotel Du Commerce" by F. Weber, and "Generals in skirts" by J.Anua , and folk drama "Miriam" by О. Yuryev, and "The caucasian roulette" by V. Merezhko, and "Playing the harpsichord" by I. Stelmakh.

 Thus, there are practically all genres in the repertoire: drama, comedy, detective, melodrama, farce, monoplay, tragicomedy.

For almost a twenty-year history of existence the theatre took part in many festivals and projects, visited Great Britain, USA, Romania, France, Poland, Albania, Sweden, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Russia, Belarus, Turkey, Macedonia.
