During the tour we will visit the native area of Ukrainian genius. The villages of Moryntsi, Kyrylivka and Budysche are considered a "golden horseshoe" of Shevchenko's native area. Taras Shevchenko strolled there a lot as a child. Many of those sites were  painted by Shevchenko in his works.

Shevchenko was born in village of Moryntsi. He spent his childhood in village of Kirillovka. Shevchenko was a servant of Engelhardt, the rich owner of big estate located in Budysche. All these sites have been declared Taras Shevchenko's Homeland National Reserve. There you can see the hut where Taras Shevchenko was born, his parents' hut, sexton's hut where Shevchenko had his first lessons. There is 800-year-old oak there. Shevchenko painted his first pictures in the hollow of that oak tree. Engelhardt's estate has been preserved.  Many of the images known from books come to life through the eyes of tourists.

The other route proposed in order to visit Shevchenko's sites is a visit to Kanev. Shevchenko's tomb is situated in Kanev. Shevchenko's memorial in Kanev has been renovated recently. There are many interesting sites there. You can see the biggest Shevchenko's monument in Ukraine, the cross that once erected over his tomb. You can visit the original building of the first Shevchenko's museum, Taras' Living-Room museum and the park. You will hear the story about the reburial of the poet's corpse in his native land. In tsarist epoch the only way for Shevchenko to return to Ukraine forever was to be buried there.
