Specialized sanatorium “Slavyansky” is a unique institution providing treatment and rehabilitation of disabled persons suffering from traumas and diseases of spine and spinal cord, locomotorium, central and peripheral nervous system, coexistent diseases of digestive tract and urogenital system. It is possible to admit for treatment at once 306 patients among which 206 are spinal profile disabled persons.
Indications for treatment:
1. Treatment of patients with the consequences of traumas and diseases of locomotorium:
- diseases of musculoskeletal system;
- inflammatory polyarthropathies (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthropathy, gout, gouty polyarthritis) in remission stage;
- arthrosis and dorsopathies (kyphosis and lordosis, scoliosis of I-III degree, osteochondrosis of spine);
- spondylopathies (ankylosing spondylitis, spondylosis);
- other dorsopathies (treatment of lesion of the intervertebral discs should be started in 3 months after laminectomy and in 6 months after anterior spine fusion);
- soft tissues diseases in remission stage;
- lesion of synovial membranes and tendons out of acute stage;
- osteoporosis without pathological fracture;
- osteomyelitis in remission stage;
- traumatic injuries of musculoskeletal system and their consequences in rehabilitation stage;
- coexistent diseases: chronic inflammatory diseases of female genital organs, infertility, menopausal syndrome, prostatitis.
Contra-indications:
- general contra-indications for health spa resort treatment;
- severe forms of bones and joints injuries accompanied by grave condition or amyloidosis of internal organs;
- polyarthritis with progressive process in the joints, ankylosis and contractures during return changes in the joints and a loss of self-service ability;
- severe deformations of joints with re synovitis;
- loss of independent movement ability;
- chronic osteomyelitis accompanied by a large metallic foreign body in osteomyelitis’ nidus;
- septic forms of rheumatoid arthritis;
- rheumatoid arthritis accompanied by system injuries (Viscera).

2. Treatment of patients with the diseases and consequences of spinal cord traumas:
- spine injury, traumas of spinal cord and their consequences (treatment can be started in 4 months after trauma if it was accompanied by spine cord injury and 2 months later if it wasn’t);
- residual effects of inflammatory central nervous system diseases in remission stage;
- failure of individual nerves, nerve roots and plexuses;
- polyneuropathy and other lesions of peripheral nervous system out of acute stage;
- consequences of cerebral palsy;
- consequences of cerebrovascular diseases.
Contra-indications:
- general contra-indications for health resort spa treatment;
- kidney failure;
- exacerbation of kidneys inflammatory diseases;
- trophic disorders accompanied by tissue necrosis;
- osteomyelitis;
- bulbar and pseudobulbar palsy;
- sensory aphasia;
- pathologic blood and urin examinations.
