Must-see in Ukraine
In Poltava on 24 – 26 June Mazepa–fest 2009 will be held. The organizer is Poltava regional branch of Prosvita society. On June 24 Sweet Darusya after the same name novel by Mariya Matios will be on performed by Ivano-Frankivsk Drama Theatre.
The monument to Nikola Tereshchenko, a patron of art and the honoured citizen of Kyiv, is opened on the territory of Okhmatdet, a children’s hospital and research centre (28|1 Chornovil St.); the sculpter is a Kyivan, Oleksandr Mykhailytsky.
Askaniya –Nova Preserve which represents Ukraine at the world contest New Seven Wonders of Nature for the second week in a row occupies the 14th position in the Internet vote according to the official site of the action. It means that Ukraine’s representative needs to rise three steps above to be among 11 leaders of voting to participate in another stage of the action.
The Jewish community of Lviv in the period between two world wars is the topic of the exhibition that starts on 11 June at the Lviv Museum of History of Religion. Over 1000 years Jews have lived in Galicia. At the beginning of the 20th cent. the largest Jewish was in Lviv which was the third in Poland after Warsaw and Lodz.
During a week in Lviv Region a group of experts is working to select cheerches which be protected by the UNESCO. On the initiative of the Lviv Oblast Council the year of 2009 is announced The Year of Development of the Carpathian region, that's whey this year it is envisaged to include 5 wooden cheerches into World Heritage List of the UNESCO.
POLTAVA has already two war museums – the world known Poltava Battle museum and recently opened ( in February) Museum of war conflicts of the 20th century. Now there was be added one more - the Museum of Soviet military aviation, officially accessible for visitors. It happened on 9 May.
KAMYANETS-PODILSKY is a town of festivals. They take place in this wonderful town more than ten times a year. And here is one of them. On 6-7 June 2009 there will be held the First International Retrofest festival.

The Narcissus Valley is a pearl of rich and diverse nature of the Transcarpathian region, the only region in Ukraine where natural brushwood of the narrow-leaved narcissus has been preserved. The valley is located a few kilometers from the town of Khust. The narcissus became an original symbol of this area.
