It is the exclusive museum in Ukraine. It was opened in 1994 to the centenary of sewage in the building of former pumping house. The samples of sewage equipment and pipes from antique Greece and Rome are presented in two large halls; actually the first sewage system made of ceramic pipes appeared at that time.
The main part of the exposition is dedicated to sewage sector of Kiev. We get to know the role of businessman and patron of art Armand Struve in building of this important sanitary system. The mortality in Kiev decreased rapidly after the canalization was built in 1894. The doctor’s report of that time confirmed that and this report is gently kept in the Museum. Fragments of old bricked well, the model of city’s collector in a full-scale, the scheme of sewage network of Kiev, the model of a training territory, etc., attract attention.
The Museum is regularly refilled with new exhibits, such as pieces of old pipes, hatches, parts of repair equipment. You can also see the models of new sewage hatches from reinforced plastic and plastic, which started to be installed only in last years.
In the Museum yard there are fragments of water-pressure pipes, which could not be located inside, handmade by the keeper of the Museum.
