Ceremonial opening of “Ukrainian National Republic Museum” dedicated to the period of National Revolution of 1917-1921 took place on January 22, 2009. The Museum is located in the historical building of Ukrainian Central Rada (Kiev City Teachers` House since 1982). Unique relics of National Republic times belong to the museum. Among them there are original pictures of The UNR Directory’s Chairman Simon Petlyura, three Prime Ministers of the UNR Government, set of belongings of the UNR Army General Nikolai Kapustyanskiy, state awards and uniform of that time, books with autographs of statesmen of the Republic. The center of the exposition is the “Trizub” – the state emblem of Ukrainian National Republic and the original of hard copy of the Central Rada`s Fourth Universal, which proclaimed total state independence of . Ukrainian National Republic since January 9 (22), 1918.
Ukrainian National Republic (UNR) – was an independent state, proclaimed by the Central Rada on November 7 (20), 1917. Its Government was headed by Vladimir Vinnichenko, Simon Petlyura became the Minister in Military Affairs. The Soviet Authorities started out the war against the Republic, which caused proclamation of full independence of UNR from Russia. After Bolsheviks` recurrent attack in 1919-20th the UNR Government emigrated from the country.
The UNR Government functioned in expatriation up to 1992.
