The old tower of the Kiev Fortress became a shelter to the specific Museum of toilet culture of different countries and epochs. Perhaps, the progress of civilization is seen more clearly by this example. It is very curious to see the models of construction of sewage in medieval towers, for example the famous closet in order’s castle of sword-bearers, and informational stands with pictures, which show the evolution of backside beginning from the ancient cultures.
There is nothing to be ashamed of! Kings, ladies and gentlemen indispensably walked here. The most important part of our life and all related things are here in the only Museum of such kind in Ukraine. The old tower of the Kiev Fortress became a shelter to the specific Museum of toilet culture of different countries and epochs. Who said that people were more stupid and careless? The flushing canalization already existed in Ancient India and toilet paper was invented 2 thousand years ago in China.
Representative collection of exhibits includes an old wooden prison slop pail, English Victorian water-closet and Victorian night vase of second half of 19th century, German portable ceramic bidet of the first half of 19th century.
Besides, a huge collection of toilet bowls is presented in the Museum. There are real works of art here. There is no golden toilet-bowl; in that case the Museum would have to hire serious security, instead there are porcelain and semiprecious-stoned water-closets, and even a silver pendent shaped as a toilet bowl – it’s a stylish present! French urinal with guillotine is especially precious; it is a model of conceptual art. There is a toilet-bowl with a portrait of famous anchorman Anatoly Borsyuk – a very remarkable exhibit.
