The famous American millionaire Armand Hammer came to this museum at night. What did he want to see and hear? Maybe he was attracted by ghosts, which were in cellar of former morgue and in the walls of Anatomic theatre? Nevertheless the Museum was one of the most informative in Kiev, at that time. Kiev and Ukrainian medicine, the role of medical intelligentsia are integral parts of culture and science of our country, and how many discoveries were made here! And how many of those who made the discoveries were born on our land, living all around the world – from Russia to USA, from Canada to Australia, from Israel to France. Ukrainian medicine takes the first places by the number of discoveries. We could appraise this confirmation in this museum.
The exposition, based on combination of scientific-methodical and documentary materials and artifacts in complex with architectonic, artistic, technical, audio and visual means was created in the Museum, one of the first in country. The original interiors were created in the Museum - with portrait figures of famous scientists and doctors and even dioramas dedicated to the most remarkable events in Ukrainian medicine. The last ones attract the attention of visitors most of all, enlivening the interior: snapshots of the epoch appear in front of excursionists. All figures were created from photopolymers by sculptor Spartak Britano.
Among artifacts in the first hall, historical relics, ancient medical tools, medical herbs, which were used in folk medicine, annalistic resources mostly attract attention. The interior of ancient bathhouse from time of Kievan Rus (X-XI centuries), which was used not only for hygienic purpose, but for treatment, is of special interest.
In the central hall of the Museum medicine of XX century is represented: here are the War and Holodomor and Chernobyl as well as great doctors Amosov and Filatov, biography of founder of this Museum Alexandr Grando, and discoveries of Ukrainian medicine of recent decades.
